Facebook: First Engineer, Business Development
First engineer on Facebook's Business Development team, building the internal systems and integrations that ran BD from scratch—then moving into consumer product on the Pages team (Brand Pages, Deals).
Context & Problem
I was the first engineer on the BD team—another 0→1 seat, this time inside a hypergrowth company. Part of the job was building the technical org itself: recruiting engineering talent and scaling the team from the ground up.
Role & Responsibilities
First engineer on Business Development Engineering (a founding team member). I helped recruit and scale the technical organization, architected internal products for business operations, and built the integrations wiring external enterprise systems—Workday, Oracle, Salesforce—into Facebook's Ads and HR platforms. Later I moved to core product on the Pages team and led a group of engineers on Brand Pages UX.
Architecture & Key Decisions
Internal business-operations products and enterprise integrations, then consumer products—Brand Pages and Deals—used by millions of businesses globally.
Impact & Outcomes
Established the technical foundation the BD team grew on, then helped scale consumer product experiences—showing range from internal tooling to products at global scale.
